(1) ToTAL/Open Programs:
Academy for Leadership (ToTAL) is offering more than 20 kinds of workshops annually for fostering and developing leadership and entrepreneurship mindset and skills. Regardless of whether you are in ToTAL or not, or whether you are an undergraduate or a graduate student, any student can apply to participate in these workshops.
In addition, graduate students can register for ToTAL's courses that consist of a combination of those workshops to acquire credits and GAs.

4. <System Thinking & Leadership>

-Outline: Systems Thinking is a way of thinking that delves into the “connections” between the complex events we experience in reality, and improves our insight to create the results we really want to from a deeper level than simply dealing with problems. In this class, we will focus on Systems Thinking, touching on ideas such as “learning organizations” and “mental models”, and we will also explore the nature of leadership in this complex society.

5. <Future Foresight (series of 2 classes)>

-Outline: “Future Insight” has spread in Europe and the US as a way of thinking about future prediction and uncertainty management in the VUCA era. In Japan, “Future Foresight” is being used by private companies, government and local governments as a methodology for generating innovations together with “Design Thinking”. By using horizon scanning methods that capture the signs of uncertain change and forced thinking (brainstorming), we will proactively design futures 10-15 years from now that nobody has yet to be conceived. In this class, you will experientially learn how to use future insight as a thinking tool for this purpose.

6. <Design Practice and Material Study - Idea generation with your hands and brains>

-Outline: In this class, we will foster psychological safety to generate ideas through interactive art appreciation. From there, participants will spontaneously identify problems and create prototypes on the spot. Additionally, by experimenting with different material functions, you’ll create a second, brand-new prototype. You can experience a variety of approaches to design and idea generation.

14. <Capturing Multi-perspectives (series of 2 classes)>

-Outline: In this class, using an anthropological approach, we will concretize the image of the “future” that was created in the “Future Foresight” class in December 2024, and ultimately create and perform a script. What do the diverse individuals living in that “future” think, and how do they behave in that situation? Cultivating this kind of imagination will be an essential skill for developing new technologies and businesses in the future.

-Course description: Through text readings and discussion, students will learn the current situation of exchange between Japanese students and international students, and conditions and theories of cross-cultural contact for prejudice reduction. Students are also expected to deepen mutual understanding through exchange and collaborative experiences with Japanese students, and to acquire multicultural communication skills and leadership from cognitive, emotional, and behavioral perspectives through this course.
4. TAL. C603 The Psychology of Leadership

-Course description: This course aims to educate students on cutting-edge research in the psychology of leadership. Students will learn the 5R (Readying, Reflecting, Representing, Realizing, and Reporting) tools of Identity Leadership and analyze a real-life world leadership situation through this lens, which they will report on in a short presentation and discussion at a symposium to which we will invite a leadership psychologist researcher as an online keynote speaker. This course will be recognized as an Entrepreneurship Course with no GA.
