Kiel University and former Tokyo Medical and Dental University have maintained a long-standing relationship, which led to the establishment of an cooperation agreement between their medical faculties in 2023. In April of this year, faculty members from our university visited Kiel to further strengthen this collaboration and advance the implementation of an exchange program within the framework of the Clinician Scientist Program. During this visit to Science Tokyo, a signing ceremony was held to formalize the agreement for this exchange program.
The meeting began with a welcome address from President Tanaka, followed by presentations from Professor Ryuichi Okamoto (Science Tokyo), Prof. Thiery (Kiel University), and Prof. Schreiber (Kiel University). Each presenter provided background information on their respective institutions and introduced their research as well as the Clinician Scientist Program. The networking session facilitated an active exchange of ideas. The visit was also covered by a German television station, providing an opportunity to introduce Science Tokyo internationally through interviews with our faculty.
This visit further strengthened the collaboration between the two universities, fueled by the enthusiasm and active engagement of all participants. It also served as a valuable opportunity for the further development of the Clinician Scientist Program in the future.
