【Graduate Students・Medical and Dental】Tuition Exemption / Deferment Application— First Semester of the 2026 Academic Year【※For students who enrolled by October 2025】
This information is for graduate students (medical and dental fields) who enrolled by October 2025 regarding the university’s original tuition exemption and deferment application system (including those who enrolled or advanced in October 2025).
１． What the Tuition Exemption / Deferment system is
Based on a student’s application, the university conducts a selection considering the applicant’s household financial situation and academic performance, and may exempt the full or half amount of tuition or grant a deferment.
Those who wish to apply for tuition exemption / deferment for the First Semester of the 2026 Academic Year must check this website and the application guidelines and then submit an application.
- “Exemption（免除）”
- ：When current income makes it impossible to pay expenses.
- “Deferment（徴収猶予）”
- ：When payment of expenses will be possible after several months.
＜About year-round (full-year) assessment（通年判定）＞
From the 2025 academic year, if within the standard period of study, the application result of tuition exemption will be valid for the academic year. Students who receive an exemption for the full year in the First Semester cannot apply for the Second Semester. (Except in the case of a “sudden change in household finances（家計急変）”.)
※ In this system, “sudden change in household finances” means death of a household supporter or damage from a disaster, etc.
※ For details, be sure to check the section below titled “About year-round (full-year) assessment（通年判定について）.”
２．Eligibility for application（申請資格）

Regular course students who meet any of the following 1–2:
- Those who are judged unable to pay due to economic reasons and are recognized as having excellent academic performance.
- Cases equivalent to the above where the university president recognizes there are reasonable grounds.
- Students who will complete a master’s program at this university in March 2026 and will advance to a doctoral program at this university in April 2026 are treated as “new students.” Please check the guidance for new students entering or advancing in April 2026.
≪Regarding JSPS Special Research Fellows (DC1, DC2)≫
JSPS Special Research Fellows (DC1, DC2) are exempt from tuition.
There is no need to apply for tuition exemption.
≪Regarding MEXT Scholarship Students≫
MEXT Scholarship Students do not need to apply for tuition exemption.

Some documents may take time to issue, so prepare with sufficient time.
４．Notification of results（結果の通知）
If you applied for tuition exemption / deferment for the First Semester of the 2026 Academic Year, do not pay the tuition while awaiting notification of the application result because payment will be deferred.
If you pay, it will be treated as withdrawal of the application.
Application results will be notified by email to university email addresses (@tmd.ac.jp, @m.isct.ac.jp) around early August 2026.
If any payment is required, tuition must be paid by late August 2026.
The payment method for tuition will be informed in the result notification.
